Can someone apply for a visa on behalf of another person?
Yes, as long as all required documents are provided, and the application form is fully completed and properly signed.
Can someone collect a visa/passport on behalf of another person?
Yes, provided they bring the collection number and/or an authorization letter, along with an identification card.
What does “reference in Tanzania” mean on the visa application form?
This refers to the name, address, and phone number of a contact person in Tanzania. If you do not have a contact person, include the name, address, and phone number of your hotel or accommodation in Tanzania.
Can someone get a visa upon arrival in Tanzania?
It is not guaranteed. It is strongly recommended to apply for a visa in advance at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Stockholm, Sweden.
When does the visa start, and what is the maximum duration of stay in Tanzania?
Visas are valid from the date of issuance and allow a maximum stay of 90 days from the date of entry.
What does “Means of Financial Support” mean on the visa application form?
This indicates who is funding your trip (e.g., a company, organization, employer, family member, or self-funding).
To whom should the cheque be made payable?
Cheques should be made payable to the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Vienna, Austria.
What payment methods are accepted?

- Cheque (must include a copy of a valid driver’s license)

Can pets be taken to Tanzania?

Is Yellow Fever Vaccination (Y.F.V.) Required?
It is not mandatory if you are traveling directly to Tanzania from Vienna, Austria, or connecting through any airport worldwide. (For entry through other countries, please refer to the visa section on our website for detailed information.)
Does a Visa Allow Me to Work in Tanzania?
No, a visa only grants permission to enter the country; it does not grant the right to work.
What is Required for a Volunteer to Start Their Duties?
Volunteers must obtain authorization from the Immigration offices in their local area or from the Immigration Head Office.
Can I Obtain a CTA Permit at the Border?
Temporary assignment/work or volunteer permits (CTA) for periods under 90 days are typically issued at local Immigration Offices and not at the point of entry or border.
Does the Tanzania High Commission Provide Immunization Waivers?
No, but we recommend that you carry a physician’s note for an immunization waiver to present to Health Officers at the point of entry. Standard practice dictates that all immunization, waiver, and control matters are decided by Health Officers at the respective entry points or borders.
Can I Apply for a Visa on Arrival?
Yes, tourists and visitors can obtain a visa upon arrival at any entry point in Tanzania. However, it is highly recommended to secure your visa before traveling.
Customs Clearance & Duty-Free Allowances
Personal effects, including binoculars, cameras, and film for personal use, may be brought in duty-free. A customs bond may be required for video/filming equipment, radios, tape recorders, and musical instruments, redeemable upon re-export. Duty-free allowances include 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, or 250 grams of tobacco, plus one pint of spirits (for travelers over 16). Importing firearms without special permission is a criminal offense. At departure, receipts for items purchased locally may be requested by Customs.
