Simon C. Mears is the Honorary Consul for the United Republic of Tanzania in Denmark. As the Head of Mission at the Tanzanian Consulate in Denmark, he is responsible for leading and fostering Tanzania’s diplomatic, cultural, and business relations with Denmark. His role involves consolidating and enhancing the more than 60 years of collaboration between the two nations, with a particular focus on economic investment, trade, and tourism.
Simon’s appointment reflects his dedication to strengthening bilateral ties, promoting Tanzania as a stable and investor-friendly destination, and showcasing the country’s resources and opportunities, such as its growing economy, mining sector, and tourism industry. Dorthea proudly represents Tanzania’s rich culture and history in her role as the Communications Officer for the Tanzanian Consulate in Denmark. With Tanzanian heritage and a Danish upbringing, she brings a unique perspective to bridging the two cultures.
With a background in film and TV production, Dorthea has spent years creating impactful visual and communication content. As a passionate storyteller, she believes in the power of connecting people through narratives—a skill she now uses to highlight Tanzania’s role in Danish society and strengthen the bond between the two nations.
Her journey from growing up in Denmark to gaining professional experience in Tanzania and across Europe has equipped her with the ability to navigate diverse cultures and perspectives. Dorthea is a strong advocate for amplifying the voices of minorities and actively works to inspire the next generation to reach their potential, regardless of their background.
As the Communications Officer, Dorthea ensures the Consulate’s presence is felt and Tanzania’s voice is heard in Denmark—always with a personal touch and a passion for fostering connections.
